Tommy
Tommy
Gotcha Day: May 2022
Breed: Terrier
Gender: Male
Age: 1 year
Weight: 16 lbs
His ideal home would be a calm environment preferably with teens and adults, no little ones.
He does well with his 10lb chihuahua furriend. He rarely barks but will sometimes howl if he’s lonely. He has not had a potty accident in the home since taking him in but will give some cues when he needs to go outside. He’ll suddenly get up and run to the door. If he can’t get outside through one door he’ll run to the glass sliding door and look outside.
He’s still in the process of learning commands. Will sometimes bolt out the door when it opens. He walks well on leash and is crate trained. When Tommy calls it a night he prefers to sleep in the bedroom near his favorite human and will curl up on the dog bed on the floor.
He’s also still learning how to play and will get short bursts of energy. He’s still unsure how to play with toys but will do zoomies around the house for a couple minutes. He mostly loves to lounge around and nap.
Once Tommy trusts you, you will be his person. He’ll follow you around everywhere. He is not too keen on younger kids (especially if they are high energy) and will get a little scared. Has shown affection to younger kids but on his own terms. Will give a low growl and/or show his teeth when someone he does not trust yet gets in his personal space. We have been trying to work with him on this and reassure him he is safe. He has nipped on a few occasions.
Oh and he loves to be cuddled . He is honestly just the sweetest. The little quirks he has as he learns how to love, trust, and play is the cutest!
